Z-Wave is the international wireless protocol for communication in the Smart Home. This device is suited for use in the region mentioned in the Quickstart section.
Z-Wave ensures a reliable communication by reconfirming every message (two-way communication) and every mains powered node can act as a repeater for other nodes (meshed network) in case the receiver is not in direct wireless range of the transmitter.
This device and every other certified Z-Wave device can be used together with any other certified Z-Wave device regardless of brand and origin as long as both are suited for the same frequency range.
If a device supports secure communication it will communicate with other devices secure as long as this device provides the same or a higher level of security. Otherwise it will automatically turn into a lower level of security to maintain backward compatibility.

Smarter, more convenient heating control for your home.
The radiator thermostat that can be used with most water heaters such as space heaters, towel warmers or even underfloor heating. It takes readings from external Aqara sensors and adjusts the heat output accordingly.
Readings from external temperature sensor (including HomeKit): Control the temperature of the entire room, not just around the radiator. Compared to other thermostats, the Aqara Radiator Thermostat can receive temperature readings directly from the connected Aqara Temperature and Humidity Sensor or TVOC Air Quality Monitor (sold separately), even in HomeKit!
Advanced detection of door and window openings: To avoid wasting energy, the TRV switches off the heating when an open door or window is detected. This can be done both via the built-in temperature sensor, which detects a sudden drop in temperature, or by connecting to an Aqara door and window sensor via automations, which are more reliable.
Automatic weather control and freeze protection: If there is a risk of pipes freezing, the heating is switched on automatically. In addition, thanks to the powerful Aqara Home automatic system, the room can be preheated to compensate for the temperature difference if the outside temperature drops significantly.
Configurable smart schedules: The schedules can be set for the desired time periods, such as night, and the transition between them is smooth but as fast as possible.
Device grouping support: If there are multiple radiators in a room, they will all be synchronised in the most efficient way based on the actual room temperature.
Colourful backlit display: Compared to similar products, the LCD screen of the Aqara radiator thermostat has a backlight, wider viewing angle, extra high contrast and crisp and colourful icons.
1 year battery life: Thanks to the Zigbee protocol and energy-efficient hardware, the battery of the Aqara radiator thermostat can last for up to a year.
Easy installation and wide compatibility: The Aqara radiator thermostat is equipped with adapters that make it compatible with the vast majority of radiator valves. Installation takes just a few minutes and requires no additional tools.

Please read the user manual before installing the product.
In order to include (add) a Z-Wave device to a network it must be in factory default state. Please make sure to reset the device into factory default. You can do this by performing an Exclusion operation as described below in the manual. Every Z-Wave controller is able to perform this operation however it is recommended to use the primary controller of the previous network to make sure the very device is excluded properly from this network.
ATTENTION: only authorized technicians under consideration of the country-specific installation guidelines/norms may do works with mains power. Prior to the assembly of the product, the voltage network has to be switched off and ensured against re-switching.
On factory default the device does not belong to any Z-Wave network. The device needs to be added to an existing wireless network to communicate with the devices of this network. This process is called Inclusion.
Devices can also be removed from a network. This process is called Exclusion. Both processes are initiated by the primary controller of the Z-Wave network. This controller is turned into exclusion respective inclusion mode. Inclusion and Exclusion is then performed doing a special manual action right on the device.
Here are a few hints for network installation if things dont work as expected.
